Youth Islamic Studies (YIS) Program

In a world full of noise, this is a place to rediscover clarity, purpose, and faith.

The 2026–27 Program: A Year of Sacred Knowledge. Five courses, each studied from authentic sources, plus Islāmic Apologetics Workshops.

YIS is a part-time program for high school students, university students, and working professionals seeking a deeper connection with their dīn. Each course is rooted in the classical scholarly tradition. Take the full program, or choose the individual courses that suit you.

New to YIS? You’re in the right place. You don’t need to have studied with us before. Each year of YIS is complete in itself, so you can join this year with no previous YIS classes. All you need is a basic grounding in Islāmic studies.

Why join

  • One day a week, planned for you. Every class runs on Sunday, so a full year of study fits around school, work, and family.

  • Rooted in the classical scholarly tradition. Each course follows a text that scholars have taught and passed down, so you learn Islām as it has been understood by its scholars. All of this is explained in English with no Arabic required.

  • Learn with others. Classes are discussion and lecture based, alongside students who share your goals.

This year’s courses

Five courses and Islāmic Apologetics Workshops throughout the year.

  • Fiqh: The Evidence Behind the Ruling: ʿUmdat al-Aḥkām, ʿAbd al-Ghanī al-Maqdisī.
Study the aḥādīth on worship and see how the Ḥanafī madhhab understands them, and why.

  • ʿAqīdah: The Clear Light: al-Nūr al-Mubīn, Ibn Juzayy al-Kalbī.
Learn the core beliefs of your dīn and the Qurʾānic āyāt they are based on.

  • ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān (first half of the year): Muqaddimat al-Tashīl li-ʿUlūm al-Tanzīl, Ibn Juzayy al-Kalbī.
An introduction to how the Qurʾān was revealed and preserved, and the sciences the ʿulamāʾ use to understand the Qurʾān.

  • Ḥadīth (second half of the year): al-Arbaʿūn al-Nawawiyyah, Yaḥyā ibn Sharaf al-Nawawī.
Often the first ḥadīth text students study, explaining forty aḥādīth at the heart of Islām.

  • Sīrah: Prophet of Mercy, Madīnan Period: Abul Ḥasan ʿAlī Nadwī.
Follow the life of the Prophet ﷺ in Madīnah, from the Hijrah to his final days.

How the four years work

YIS runs as a four-year cycle. Each year studies a different set of texts, and each year stands on its own. There’s no required starting point: join in whichever year you’re ready, and continue with us in the years that follow, in shāʾ Allāh.

What you'll achieve

  • Clarity and purpose. Cut through the noise and find direction in divine guidance.

  • Knowledge you can trace. Know where your beliefs and practices come from, not just what they are.

  • Confidence to explain your faith. Answer questions about Islām, from friends, classmates, or yourself, with clarity and calm.

Questions

I didn’t take YIS last year. Can I still join?
Yes. Each year is complete in itself, and no previous YIS classes are needed. A basic grounding in Islāmic studies is enough.

I’m a complete beginner. Is this for me?
YIS assumes a working foundation. If you’re just starting out, Fiqh & ʿAqīdah Essentials is the best place to begin.

Can I take just one or two courses?
Yes. Each course is $45 per month. The full program, with all five courses and the apologetics workshops, is $120 per month.
