Fiqh & ʿAqīdah Essentials
Now enrolling. In-person seats are available for both brothers and sisters at our Pickering location, plus live online from anywhere.
A foundation you can build a life on
Most of us learned how to pray long before we understood what makes a prayer valid, or why we believe what we believe. Fiqh & ʿAqīdah Essentials is where that changes. In two months of focused Sunday sessions, you'll cover the essentials of how to worship correctly and what Islam actually teaches about belief, so that your practice rests on understanding rather than habit.
This is an introductory course. No prior background is needed. Whether you're a student, a working professional, or someone returning to structured learning after years away, you'll leave able to worship with certainty and understand your beliefs with clarity.
It also serves as a bridge program for those who would like to go on to join the Youth Islamic Studies program.
What you'll learn
Fiqh — Islamic Jurisprudence
Ḥanafī fiqh, studied from Ascent to Felicity, covering the essentials of purification and worship: Ṭahārah, Ṣalāh, Ṣawm, Zakāh, and Ḥajj. You'll learn the rulings and their details, and most importantly, how to apply them in your day to day — making these traditional texts relevant to where you actually live them: at work, at school, and at home.
ʿAqīdah — Islamic Creed
Core Islamic beliefs, studied through selections from Al-Fiqh al-Akbar, the creedal text attributed to Imām Abū Ḥanīfah. You'll come away understanding what you believe, and how it distinguishes authentic belief from later deviations.
